The stigma of "overqualified"

My friend is going through the same thing right now. She worked at the same job for 20+ years and so that supposedly mean that she too is "over qualified". Forget the fact that she worked for the same co. for 20+ years - wouldn't that mean she's loyal and reliable?

For some companies these days who expect to see a more mobile workforce, that kind of company loyalty supposedly shows fear or a lack of ambition. It's quite silly, especially if the company that the candidate showed loyalty to is a good company.
